K9s for Warriors

Yesterday, I had the privilege of attending the K9s For Warriors 100th Texas Warriors Celebration—a truly heartwarming event celebrating the incredible veteran and service dog teams that have graduated from the K9s for Warriors Ranch in Helotes.

Determined to end Veteran suicide, K9s For Warriors provides highly trained service dogs to military veterans suffering from PTSD, traumatic brain injury and/or military sexual trauma. With the majority of dogs being rescues, this innovative program allows the K9/Warrior team to build an unwavering bond that facilitates their collective healing and recovery.

Meeting the service dogs and hearing the stories from their veteran partners was moving beyond words. Since 2011, this nonprofit organization has paired more than 1,000 veterans with lifesaving service dogs and rescued more than 2,000 dogs.

If you know a veteran who could benefit from this program, or if you would like to donate or give your time to K9s for Warriors at the Helotes Ranch, please visit their website at https://k9sforwarriors.org/.
